WebReactive Strength Index (RSI) In a lab setting, RSI is calculated by dividing jump height by ground contact time. This gives the sports scientist or researcher insight into how well an athlete produces force. WebReactive strength index can be increased by increasing jump height, decreasing ground contact time, or both. Young ( 34) has described the RSI as an individual's ability to change quickly from an eccentric to concentric contraction and can be considered as a measure of “explosiveness.”
