The whole idea of drilling the 2 plugs behind the t gears on a BBC got its start because it helped eliminate noisey hyd lifters on start up, due to an air lock on the end of the galley. It wasn't for oiling the chain, the chain gets way, way more oil than it can ever use, or need.
Webb16 feb. 2004 · There are 2 different size plugs. "Most" early blocks, up to maybe 1986 or so, use a 1/2" plug. The newer ones are slightly smaller, can't remember the exact size. Take a straightened coathanger and stick it down through the hole where the oil pressure gauge screws in. There's 3 of them. The rear plugs (under the flywheel) are threaded, 1/4" NPT, or tapered pipe.
